At Queensbury we consider English to be an exciting subject that provides opportunities to promote critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork. The main areas of English are; speaking and listening, reading and writing which are tailored to meet students’ individual needs. We design the curriculum around engaging topics which support our young people to maximize their potential.
At Key Stage 3 we nurture the students’ existing skills and enhance their confidence to make good progress which supports their learning across the curriculum. At Queensbury we value the experiences of trips that help put learning into real life context to aid understanding. The skills we develop at Key Stage 3 lead to a successful transition to Key Stage 4.
At Key Stage 4 students will study either:
- GCSE English Language.
- Entry Level 1, 2 or 3.
At Key Stage 5 students will study either:
- Functional skills Level 1 or 2.
- Functional skills Entry Level 1, 2 or 3.
